You can pick it up this September 27th onwards for $249.99 after a $100 mail-in rebate and signing up for a 2-year contract. Samsung Cell Phone news

Samsung Instinct - Convert and Play videos on your Instinct for free. Tv shows, Movies, etc

I used a free software called Videora iPod Converter. It was intended to be used for converting videos to iPods and the iPhone but works extremely well for the Samsung Instinct.
You can download it for free here.
http://www.videora.com/en-us/Converter/iPod/download.php
After your done installing it open Videora (obviously duh).
Once it’s open click on the Convert button along the top (next to Home). Then click on the Video File tab. That will bring you to this screen.

Click on Power Mode. Power Mode will allow you to adjust additional settings (which is needed to make it work on the Samsung Instinct).

File: Use this to select the file you wish to convert.
Output Directory: This is where the converted file is saved.
Title: The name of the converted file.
Device: Select iPhone (That’s what I’ve been using haven’t messed around with others)
Profile: Select MPEG4 VGA 768kbps Stereo/128kbps 2-Pass (Again haven’t tried others yet)
After you do this and wish to convert another file click Add To Que, if this is the only file you want to convert or is the last one hit Convert Now.

Click View Conversion Progress.

Now just sit back and wait. Since we selected 2-Pass it will run twice.
Once it is finished it will try to add the file to your iTunes, if you don’t have it installed you will get an error saying it can’t do it. Everything is fine just click OK. If you do have iTunes you will now notice the converted video added to it. You can remove it if you like.
Putting them on your Samsung Instinct.
Make sure your Samsung Instinct is plugged in via the USB cable. Goto My Computer (or Computer on Vista). For me it is under Removable Disk F: but the letter might be different for you. Double click on it. Then double click on Media. Now just drag and drop the file(s) from where you saved them to into this folder.
To watch these videos.
Unplug your Samsung Instinct and goto Fun > TV/Video > My Videos > Sideloaded and click on the file you want to watch. Double tap the screen to make it full screen. Tap it again to bring up the menus.
There are a ton more options within this program but I have not had the time to play around with it yet. If you have any questions please ask. The pictures are huge I know.
I just got done watching 3 episodes of Weeds, and the movie Jumper all play fine.

Synching your outlook with your Samsung Instinct alternative

For all the people who use Microsoft Outlook, there is an application called Microsoft Outlook SMS that is a plug in to your outlook. If set correctly, every time you update your calender or set a task for yourself, outlook will automatically send you a SMS to your phone. This is good because you dont have to log on to Gmail Calender to see your schedule. Now, if you ask, what about if im mobile and I want to update my calender. The way around this is to use your gmail calender, make your new entry, if you always leave your mac/pc on, the gmail sync will kick on and sync your gmail calender with your outlook calender, then send you an SMS with any new appointments. This is an alternative to just using gmail calender. Hope this helps out.. Samsung Instinct

Samsung Instinct tricks - Desktop Sync & Mobile Sync FIXED

I found this site that had a fix for the Desktop Sync & Mobile Sync that works! I tried it and it works. Here is how: Samsung Instinct
I have discovered a very easy fix for anyone with the “The system could not validate login for unknown reasons.” issue while syncing outlook contacts to Samsung Instinct. .
1. Log in to sprint.com
2. Do you see your Samsung Instinct phone under your profile or does it show the old phone. If you are having the outlook sync problem, most likely your old phone is there under your profile.
3. Click on settings & passwords link on top
4. Click on update profile
5. Click on update phone
7. Enter your phone number, you will get a text message with code
8. Enter that code when asked on the website
9. Log out, log back in
10. Sprint Samsung Instinct should be there now. Click on “Online Tools” on top
11. Click on mobile sync to set it up.
12. Done, plug in your phone and sync away!

Samsung Instinct Pictures – Samsung Cell Phone photos

I had the Samsung Instinct show on my account already but I just re-added it to my account like it says here and It worked. Samsung Cell Phone tips & tricks
Thanks to http://davidciccone.com/2008/06/21/inst … -sync-fix/ for the information.

put your music on the instinct

Put your music on the Samsung instinct

Step 1:
-Downloading The Software-
Go to www.MediaMonkey.com and click on download, then follow the links till it starts. This has to be one of the best freewares out there. It makes converting music and embedding album art a breeze, so I highly recommend getting this for putting music on your Instinct.
Step 2:
-Finding Your Music-
Get all of the music that you want to put on your Instinct and copy it into a folder purely for your instinct. This way you have back ups if you every need them. I suggest making sub folders for Artists and albums but you can do them all at once into one folder as well.
example:
Desktop\Instinct Music\Opeth\Stilllife
Step 3:
-Converting Your Music-
Open Media Monkey, (I recommend doing the albums individually but you can do all at once) copy the music you want and paste into the now playing window.
Select all of the files and click on Tools then "Convert Audio Format" (or Shift+Control+C).
A window will pop up with the destination for the new files, copy the folder (continuing the example: Desktop\Instinct Music\Opeth\Stilllife) and paste it into the text window.
Next you need to change the format so click on the scroll tab that says "format" next to it and click on MP3.
If you want, you can click on settings bellow "format" to change the bit rate or quality of the song.
Click on "Okay" located at the bottom right of the window to start the conversion and let it take it’s sweet time to finish.
Step 3:
-Embedding Album Art-
After your music is converted, you can add album art to make a much better presentation on your Instinct. To do so, you are first going to need to download a file of the album art. I personally used google and did a image search for "Opeth Stilllife"(Opeth being the band, and stilllife being the album". find a image that is bigger then 240×240 px and download it. I recommend saving it with the album for safe keeping.
Once you have the album art, you need to get a image conversion program. Programs like Photoshop (not freeware) or Gimp (freeware) work great.
You can get Gimp (freeware) at http://www.gimp.org/
I personally use photo shop so I am going to explain what to do with that but I am sure that Gimp is very similar in process.
Open Photoshop, and click on file, then open. find the album art that you had downloaded (example: Desktop\Instinct Music\Opeth\Stilllife\Stilllife Album Art) and click on open.
Once you have the image opened in photoshop, click on "Image", then "Image Size". a window will pop up for this. click on the scroll tab and click on pixels. After this change the width to 240px, hit "OK", then "File" , "Save As" and save into the same place that the original picture was from under the same name. It will ask you if you want to overwrite the original file, hit "OK".
Now that you have the Album Art in the right resolution, open Media Monkey again and put the music that you have already converted into the "Now Playing" tab. select the album that you want to embed the album art to, right click it, and hit "Properties". A window will pop up. Click on the "Album Art" tab and hit "Add". Next you find the image that you converted and hit "Open", then "OK".
Now you have your music embedded with album art! yay!
Step 4:
-Getting The Music Onto The Instinct-
There are several ways to do this. One is through the software that came with the phone, the second is through Media Monkey, and the Third (which I use and will explain) is manually. I recommend doing this manually just because I know there are people out there that cant get there phones to connect to the Media Manager, and this works no matter what.
Connect your phone to your computer, or connect the SD card into a SD slot in your computer, and open the Removable Disk. Click on Music, then copy the files that you converted and paste them into this folder. This will take some time, so do get too gitty while waiting!
Once all the files are copied onto the memory stick, their put the memory stick into your phone, or unplug the usb cord depending on which method you used.
Now that your music is on your phone, open the music program, and enjoy!!!

Ok, so it took me awhile to figure this out. Hopefully, it will save someone else.
1. To copy music from iTunes it cannot have DRM so remove it if it has any. (Buy from iTunes Plus, use Tunebite.)
2. Use iTunes to convert the song to MP3 (or set it to do that in Tunebite).
3. Drag and drop to the Music folder in the root of the memory stick.

The dimensions for the wallpapers are 240 x 432

You can use any software or website you want to resize the picture you want to use. Samsung Cell Phone tips & tricks

Step 1:
Plug your USB cable into your Samsung Instinct and the computer and the memory card in the Instinct should appear in your system as another hard drive. When you click view folder, you will see a few folders, one is called DCIM. Inside that folder are two other folders called CAMERA and SAVED. Copy the pictures you have downloaded to your computer to the SAVED folder on the Samsung Instinct Phone.

Step 2:
After transferring your pictures, and unplugging your Samsung Instinct phone from the USB cable, you should be able to use your phone. Samsung Instinct

From the main icon select the settings icon. Then select "Display" followed by "background". Select "My Photos" followed by the "Saved folder." Pick the photo you want to use as your background and once its displayed, select the "ok" button to the right of the photo.

And that is it! That is how you make your own wall papers.
