I’ve tried messing around with my Samsung Eternity a lot since I got it and well. Samsung Cell Phone tips & tricks

Q: 1. I was reading around these forums for a while and found that you could change the LED light colors. I messed around with the settings and it was fun but I was wondering if anyone has found a way to save what you changed? Samsung Eternity

A: After changing the color, just hit save at the bottom of the screen.

Q: 2. The menu on the left side of the screen that expands with all the widgets… As far as I can tell you can only choose some of those to remove from Settings > Display and Light > Widgets. You can’t add any applications and put them there, can you?

A: Currently, we have not hacked the touchwiz interface so we cant add widgets…were hoping samsung will includ the ability to add widgets in the next software update.

Q: 3. I downloaded a few full length songs from the internet and they work fine on my Samsung Eternity, however, the file names are file1.mp3, etc. When I hit "More" the only options I see are Delete and Properties. Is there a way to rename these files? P.S. I downloaded the songs from a "free ringtone" website.
Edit: If you go to Audio > Music > Click More… Rename is there and you can select files to rename but for some reason the file names aren’t updating in the music player.

A: The files should update to the new name… ???just keep trying i guess…maybe someone else can answer that.

Q: 4. This one just kinda came up.. What is Video Share? I’m sure I could do a little looking around and easily find out but since I’m already here half way through this topic I figured I’d ask.

A: Video Share is a feature that allows you to share video via the camera during a phone call. You can only use it if you pay for the feature(its about 5 bucks a month).

I’ve been searching for a little while trying to find a way to have the Samsung Eternity ‘s LED bar flash every color. I got the instructions eventually. Samsung Cell Phone tips & tricks

Samsung Eternity tips – multi color flashing led: Samsung Eternity
Use the dial pad to type in the code *#197328640# and will take you to the service menu.
Select option 2- Version information
then option 6- RGB LED
Select 2- Color Tune
Select 5- Blue
Set the color percentages as: 1- 0; 2-0; 3-100; 4-100; 5-50; 6-0; 7-100
After you set all the percentages go back twice to previous screen and select option 1- Pattern Tune
Select 3- Msg(or other if you prefer)
Set the percentages to the following: 1-4; 2-1; 3-10; 4-9; 5-1 and leave the others alone.
Right now the Light bar on your phone should be flashing in multiple colors.

Samsung Eternity tricks – turning off 3G

Somebody asked me how to turn off the Samsung Eternity’s 3G, so they will benefit to save battery life from that. Samsung Eternity

I found the service menu to turn off Samsung Eternity’s 3g. This is a potentially dangerous operation so do it at your own risk. Samsung Cell Phone tips & tricks
From the main screen select Dial then enter:
*2767*2878#
From the first screen press the back button (middle button on phone). Press back button 2 more times or until it show debug as item no 1. Now select option 8 and then option 4 (change state). Now you can select option 2 (WCDMA) or option 3 (GSM). I’m not sure if this really works yet because I don’t always get 3g at my house.

This is the admin menu. It makes it much easier to turn off 3g. Use the code *#6984125*# from the dial pad and choose option 3 (network & call settings) then 2 (network mode).

I have managed to figure out how to change the Samsung Eternity’s decibel(db) numbers, here’s the tutotorial of sorts especially for the non-tech savvy Samsung Eternity users. Samsung Cell Phone tips & tricks

Samsung Eternity tips – Changing Volume

For head phones try entering *#197328640#, [8]audio, [2]ear config, [4]av-qtune, [1]ear mp3 vol, you can increase each db to a setting you prefer. 0 is vol 1, 1 is vol 2 and so on. I have mine set at
0. -36.0 db
1. -29.0 db
2. -22.0 db
3. -15.0 db
4. -9.0 db
5. -2.0 db
6. 5.0 db
It is louder than stock. You can make it louder but be careful.
For speaker mp3 [8] audio, [3] spk config, [4] av-qtune, [1] spk mp3 vol
the same applies but don’t set same as ear. Increase little by little to your desire. Again be careful and don’t blow out the speaker. Samsung Eternity

5. -3.0
6. 2.0
This is what I have for mp3 speaker. Changing this will increase the ringtone volume also because your ringtones should be mp3. If you want it louder, up the dbs for each like 1-2 more. Hope this helps.

Samsung Eternity – speed dial?

The Samsung eternity does not have a speed dial option right now but it has something similar. If you go to Menu > Address Book > SIM Management and you copy contacts to SIM, they get a SIM assigned number. So, you go to Address Book Settings, View contacts from SIM card. Now when you open the address book and click on a contact it says SIM #, you click on edit, change the number and that would be your speed dial like function. Whenever you’re gonna call someone hit Dial, write the number the person has registered on the sim, then add the # icon. It shows the person with that number registered and just press the green call key. Dial > 3# > shows contact. Hope this helps Samsung Eternity

My friend asked me how to set ringtones to each(different) contact on her AT&T Samsung eternity, now I have it fixed, so here i decided to share the tips below: Samsung Cell Phone tips & tricks

Samsung eternity tips: setting ringtones to different contact
-1.Select a contact from your address book
-2.Select EDIT
-3.Click on ADD MORE FIELDS
-4.Check MESSAGE TONE
-5.Select Done
-6.Then tap on the Mssage Tone box and select Special Tone then CHANGE
-7.Then select from your AUDIO menu your TONES which is where your ringtones are stored.

To pair the Samsung Eternity A867 with a Bluetooth Device follow the steps below:

Note: The first time you try to pair with another handset, you and the owner of the other handset must enter the same PIN. Once the handsets are paired, you will not need to use the PIN again.

1.Place the Bluetooth device in discoverable mode. Samsung Eternity

2.From the standby screen, press on Menu
3.Press on Settings
4.Press on Connectivity
5.Press on Bluetooth
6.Search for the Bluetooth device by pressing on Search, located in the bottom left corner
7.Press on Yes to Activate Bluetooth and start the search
8.Press on the desired Bluetooth Device (if not shown press on the left or right arrows until displayed)
9.Press the Passkey “0000″ then press on OK, you will get a brief message stating connecting followed by connected, if prompted press OK again

Here is the tips to teach you how to install games with a date cable for your samsung eternity phone. Samsung Cell Phone tips & tricks

Notes.:-Make sure you got an icon file (32×33 ), and a jad file (download jad generator)
-Sometimes you start transferring files to the phone and the software will disconnect.
Try transferring again. Try downloading the file (jar) again, or recreating the jad file again.

Samsung Eternity tips – Installing games Steps: Samsung Eternity

1. Go to Add/Remove Programs and Uninstall New Samsung PC Studio
2. Also Uninstall any Samsung USB Drivers.
3. Reboot Computer with Data Cable Unplugged
4. Go to this website: [here]
5. Download Samsung New PC Studio
6. Download MCCI WHQL USB Modem Driver

7. Install both New PC Studio and the USB Drivers (Do not plug in cable yet)
8. Reboot PC
9. Plug in the USB Cord, let drivers load up.
10. Once the drivers are loaded startup PC Studio
11. Make sure it can detect the phone, back up sim contacts etc… Exit the program
12. Close out the program on the task bar (near clock)
13. Start up TK File Explorer
14. Go to Settings -> COM -> and there should be a list of Ports available
15. Press OK then Connect
16. If done properly the phone should be shown on the bottom area.
17. There are times when the phone wont connect on first try so you must reboot the phone.

18. Once you connect to your phone go to /Exe/Java/Games
19. You can transfer games there, make a folder and put the .jar and .jad files in that folder.
20. Go to /DB2/ and delete phonedb_data.00 (note deleting this will delete your contacts from your phone and sim, so back up beforehand)
21. Reboot phone and it you should have your games installed.
