Samsung Releases Update for Galaxy GT-I7500

As of today, Samsung has released a firmware update for the Samsung Galaxy GT-I7500.

This is, sadly, not the update to Donut. However, it does include “switchers” which allow you to turn off and on Bluetooth, WiFi and GPS from the programs menu. Also along for the ride are improved device stability and battery performance. Samsung Cell Phone news

Samsung Omnia II i8000 runs Windows Mobile 6.5

You may remember the i8000 being one of the handsets announced at the global Samsung Unpacked event back in June, where it was definately the star of the show.  Now, along with several HTCs, the Windows Mobile 6.1 based Samsung Omnia II i8000 is about to get a boost from the introduction of Windows Mobile 6.5 in early October, so it’s worth us revisiting this already great mobile phone to see just how much of a benefit this will be. Samsung Cell Phone news

First of all, here’s a reminder of the exciting Samsung Omnia II i8000’s features:

  • A 3.7″ AMOLED touchscreen with a resolution of 480×800.
  • A 5 megapixel camera with a dual-LED flash, autofocus and the ability to shoot video at 30fps at a resolution of 720×480.
  • Assisted GPS with geo-tagging.
  • It’s a 3G phone with HSDPA, HSUPA and Wi-Fi.
  • A 3.5mm socket compliments the music player and the video player supports DivX and XviD formats, making it a great multimedia mobile.

This next statement may come as a surprise – it doesn’t matter that the Omnia II runs 6.5, as Samsung have done such an astonishing job with TouchWiz 2 that unless you’re digging very deep into the settings, Windows Mobile is totally obscured!  Forget early versions of HTC’s TouchFLO or Sony Ericsson’s Panels interface, TouchWiz 2 has three widget-enabled Today screens, its own menu grid and even converts options such as changing the volume into easy text and graphical buttons!

Samsung S5500E Lydford eco-friendly phone

Samsung’s latest green effort would be the S5500E Lydford eco-friendly phone, where this slider is made completely out of recycled materials, where you will even find the packaging to be recycled. The Samsung S5500E Lydford  features an alarm that lets you know when the phone’s battery is fully juiced up so that you can unplug it at that instant to save even more juice. Features-wise, the Samsung S5500E Lydford doesn’t disappoint as it has a 2.2" QVGA display, boasts HSDPA connectivity and comes with a 3-megapixel camera. No idea on pricing or a release date as at press time though, but you can probably bury this in your backyard once the phone dies to fertilize your next batch of apple trees. Samsung Cell Phone news
